Hey Guys!
Earlier this week, I went to Dosa Plaza Restaurant with family to celebrate a few different things.
We also watched the latest Bockbuster Bollywood Movie so look out for my review on that! I won't reveal the name of the movie but if you follow Bollywood you'd already know which one I'm talking about :p
I have lots to say about this restaurant!
The first and foremost thing that is most important to me is what food they serve.
Vegetarian:
With my lacto-vegetarian diet I prefer to eat in places where meat isn't cooked. For reasons of mixing utensils between foods (Most restaurants don't care about contamination like that).
So this being both Indian AND vegetarian was a huge win! Plus it has vegan and Jain options as well if you are stricter.
Location:
Now we already knew that it was a vegetarian restaurant but the first thing I noticed when we were driving there was it's location.
Dosa Plaza has restaurants in Victoria, NSW as well as Adelaide. The Adelaide restaurant is in Mawson Lakes which is generally pretty far away. The restaurant itself if in the middle of a residential area. Basically a house got converted into a restaurant. However there was a bar and grill place next to it so it didn't seem as odd.
Parking was a little odd but manageable.
Flow of people:
Next thing that really surprised me was that despite us reaching to the store at around 9pm it was still packed!! So much so that we had to wait 5 mins to get seats (well we could have put 2 tables together but they didn't want to do that...)
This was nice actually because this implies that despite being a vegetarian place, it gets a lot of people and is less likely to convert into a non-vegetarian place (which is what happened to Ms Chowki and Mitron ka Dhabba restaurants).
This also meant that it was really quite noisy - some children were a little too crazy tbh. Definitely reminded me of India.
Customer Service:
Now I don't got out to eat very often so can only compare this to Mitron ka Dhabba.
Differences I found were that since this was a bigger restaurant than Mitron ka Dhabba there were more waitresses and so things generally happened quicker. All staff were nicely spoken, not rude or uncaring.
Food variety:
As the name suggests, the restaurant is largely focused on Dosas (Dosa is a south Indian food that comes in various varieties).
Dosa Plaza surely has a massive collection of different Dosas. However it lacks dad's favorite Rawa Dosa so still better to check the menu before going there.
There were definitely a lot of new and different styles of Dosas that I had never heard of before. So always something new for you to try!
But this is not all!! They also have a range of Italian pasta dishes; various Mumbai Chaat's; South Indian foods other than Dosa (idli, vada, uttapam etc), you're standard North Indian foods which in itself is of a good variety; Indo-Chinese fusion foods (Manchurian, fried rice, Hakka noodles etc) and even 3 sizzlers.
Not to mention a few sweets and drinks of course.
The variety definitely impressive - so in a nutshell it's not a small restaurant with minimal choices.

Price:
I think the pricing is ok? Really depends on what your budget it. Definitely cheaper if you go for foods that are whole in themselves (Chole-bhature, sizzlers, 1 dosa etc). Getting a full on North Indian meal with your different sabjis, naan bread, raita, rice will cost more and is not feasibly to be eaten by a single person (portions I assume are made to share).
I cannot think of anything else to mention - you can check out their website http://www.dosaplaza.com.au
I'm terribly at giving rating so won't do that (unless you people reckon I should and if so let me know in a comment).
Until next time,
Nehal :)
