#IB lyf

I've been wanting to post for a while now, but had nothing to say...so im just gonna talk about whats been happening at school etc.

I hope you are familiar with CAS (Community, Action and Service) and I need to do 150 hours of it (50 for each category) by about august 2014..or some time like that.

I have been pretty busy doing a lot of stuff for this recently. this is my daily schedule of CAS for yr 11 term 2:

Monday - in free do Student Life support help (Service)
at lunch coach a debating team (Service)

Tuesday- in long free prepare for a dance performance on Talent Show (CAS Project, Action +Creativity)
At lunch - World Vision club (Creativity and Service...due to fundraisers)
I might also have to go watch the team i coach actually debate (the weeks it happens)

Wednesday - NOTHING! yay :D (unless its a week where I am debating...then I have to go for 2 hours and actually debate!)

Thursday - at lunch go to Animal Welfare League club (Creativity +Service as this also includes fundraisers which add further hours)

Friday - at Lunch coach the debating team again if they need it...which they usually do (Service)

Saturday -  Tennis for 2 hrs (Action) and this is every week

Sunday - I sometimes have our own team's debating meeting...which may be on a saturday instead of sunday and additional meetings at lunches (like wednesday or in a free i have etc)

So as you can see, thats a lot! And i'm exhausted already! I think I am on track with the CAS I have done, with a bit more than 50 hours done in total, you could say i've done a third of my CAS requirement and that will easily become two thirds done by the end of term 3!

Later on, I will also be taking up some more service activities such as this International Day Leader thingo which sounds really exciting actually! In fact, although it may look like I have very less Action hours since I am only doing tennis, it is the category I have the most hours in as it is a continuous activity  that I have been doing for a few years and gives you a lot of hours altogether!

Service is the least, with only about 4 or 5 hours so far :/

CAS I think is a brilliant excuse for me to do the things I have always wanted to, and to be an active part of the school community! It not only makes you even more responsible, but has made me take up so many new activities that I would have been too nervous or scared to do on my own! Such as coaching or performing a dance at school. Leadership roles in particular seem very inviting to me, unless it means being a prefect, which I wouldn't even nominate myself for as it seems to time consuming as you could be on call anytime of the day (plus it is prominent in year 12 when I want to participate in minimal CAS...that year it will be mainly just for me to not have my mind implode with only worrying about work).

Also, due to my team's debating meetings usually happening out of school, I am actually 'going out'! Its such a weird feeling doing it so often with friends but it does take up a lot of time, when the whole day passes by your eyes and all you've done is tennis and debating!

That's enough for now I'm sure!

See you all soon!
Nehal :)
